In the final chapter of this journey we’ll see how to secure Nginx and add SSH, install Node and discover how to have our application start automatically even if the server restarts.
For a while I’ve been wanting to brush Linux up. In this article I get a cloud server and learn how to deploy an Node application from scratch.
In the last article we configured a simple Express server, Webpack and also automated the build. To make the development workflow easier, we can use webpack-dev-middleware and Hot Module Replacement, so we don’t have to restart the server every time we want to see our changes.
I haven’t seen simple documentation explaining how to use Webpack bundling your client-side code with a Node server with Express, or any other similar framework, using the bundle, and having both development and production settings. Let’s try to make the simplest setup possible.
